Review: The Book No, I Do Not Want Anything
TL;DR ✨
The author happened to come across Jan Laibl's book Ne, já nic nechci (No, I Don't Want Anything) and decided to buy it. It was a good choice.
The author discovered the book by chance. Both its topical subject and a lecture by the book's author entitled How to Always Sell an Idea, Yourself, a Service, or a Product led him to buy it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XEQhenL9Kw

Inside the Book¶
The book is small, has 121 pages, and is packed with practical experience.
Each chapter covers topics salespeople need, arranged chronologically from the beginning of the sales process to its end. It is pleasant to read. Every page contains a great deal of important information worth remembering. Nothing is dissected in academic detail. Most of the theory takes up only a few lines before moving directly into practice. Here is a specific excerpt from the book:
Imagine a customer's objection: "It is expensive!"
Wrong response: "It isn't; look at everything it will bring you."
Correct response: "You are right; in today's world, everything seems expensive. Compared with what does it seem expensive to you?"
The practical examples are the best part of the entire book because they are a concentrated extract of several years of sales knowledge and experience that can be passed on. Unfortunately, the book and the situations it presents would really benefit from model videos available directly on YouTube, which would help these important lessons stick in the reader's memory. Alongside this is the fact that the book cost just under CZK 500 and is not available electronically. For someone who lives online, that feels like going back to prehistoric times. The book is very information-dense, but not enough to justify a price of CZK 500.
Positives of the Book:¶
- Extensive experience
- Practical examples
- Readability
Negatives:¶
- It is not available electronically
- There are no videos illustrating model situations
- The book offers too little value for too much money
Conclusion:¶
The author would definitely recommend the book to beginners. It has little purpose for experienced people, because everyone learns most of these situations through trial and error and, over time, through practical experience in business negotiations. The book contains a great deal of useful, practical advice that can be applied immediately with positive results. The author definitely views the archaic paper format negatively: 70% of the book's price pays only for printing, graphics, and other services. For the next edition, he would recommend going online and supplementing the practical examples with videos, which would make some useful model situations easier to remember.
