Which price list applies when calling abroad: the roaming price list or the international one? This article explains the distinction.
To keep things simple¶
- "Abroad" means an EU country outside the Czech Republic; calls to places such as Djibouti are not covered.
- Only voice calls are discussed; SMS messages are omitted.
The following situations may arise¶
- The author is abroad, has a Czech number, and calls the Czech Republic.
- Someone in the Czech Republic calls the author's Czech mobile number while the author is abroad.
- The author is in the Czech Republic and calls abroad.
- Someone else is abroad, has a foreign number, and calls the author in the Czech Republic.
- The author is abroad and calls a Czech number whose user is also abroad.
1. The author is abroad, has a Czech number, and calls the Czech Republic¶
- The author pays the roaming call rate according to the price list available here.
- For a call from Slovakia, for example, the price is CZK 2.50/min (30+1 billing).
2. Someone in the Czech Republic calls the author's Czech mobile number while the author is abroad¶
- The caller pays the same price as for a call to another network, while the author pays to receive the call according to the roaming price list, namely CZK 1.65/min (1+1 billing).
3. The author is in the Czech Republic and calls abroad¶
- The international price list applies.
4. Someone else is abroad, has a foreign number, and calls the author in the Czech Republic¶
- In this case, the author pays to receive the call. If someone called the author from Slovakia, the author would pay CZK 1.65/min.
- A call to the Slovak number prefix +421238, Slovakia (Orange), therefore costs CZK 4.43/min.
5. The author is abroad and calls a Czech number whose user is also abroad¶
- In this case, the roaming price list applies again.
